Alchemy

Art is alchemy. The transmutation of
what we see with chemicals,
pigments, pastes, solutions,
each applied with resolution
so that we might capture what we see.
Each new brush stroke, every line
reflects a meditation on our world.
The search for truth, perhaps and then
for something other than reality itself
that thing within us, searching out
elusive, sometimes instrusive, thoughts
that drive us on, a quest of sorts
for that which with each line we make
a presentation of, in light and shade
what we are within all made.
We seek a place within the world
from which to view it - and then renew it
rebirthed with every new attempt
to capture in each new creation
the undefinable, redefined.
