Finally painting the first bird!

Finally painting the first bird!

Thanks to Lynne for taking the plunge with painting the first bird. It is taking two coats to cover the blue

Projecting

Projecting

Here you can see the blue canvas stapled to Jane's studio wall, the bright blue and the birds are being projected onto the blue background

Drawing up the birds

Drawing up the birds

Here you can see Jane drawing the birds up from the projector

1st draft: birds with blue

1st draft: birds with blue

Assembling the birds and then placing them on a blue background was the starting point

1st Draft: Real Keralan trees

1st Draft: Real Keralan trees

The birds need trees and I took these especially for the project when I was in Kerala

1st Draft: green background

1st Draft: green background

In this you can see that I have traced some of the leaves from the Keralan photos. This was easier when the birds were positioned

1st Draft: with no colour behind

1st Draft: with no colour behind

It is possible to have no background colour so this is this version

1st Draft: with green

1st Draft: with green

So many possibilities! This is with green behind the birds and the photos. Then I saw all of the other birds I had forgotten on this page!!! gulp....

TROPICAL BIRD PROJECT

We have a wall measuring 1.40m x 1m at Heene Community Centre that is very bare. We aim to change that with our colourful bird project. Each bird and piece of foliage will be assembled onto canvas and painted in acrylic to build a colourful tree with a variety of birds.
