What a lovely outdoor Sketching Morning!

We did our first local outdoor sketching session today and it was a lot of fun. We met in East Preston and sat and drew some beautiful spring trees, listening to gentle birdsong. It was so peaceful and for our small group of 6 was a first time event for some which was lovely.
Getting over the fear of drawing outside is a real thing, I remember when I went on my travels abroad and sat sketching on my own. In a group it is much easier and we had plenty of friendly smiles from people passing. I love these drawings, drawing from life is so different and everyone did so well, some drawing trees perhaps for the first time. Trees in spring show all of the structure of the tree before all the leaves appear but they can be tricky - lots of crossing branches to focus on!
Here are a few shots of us sitting and the lovely drawings, we all went for a lovely coffee afterwards in the Great Dane, a lovely couple of hours all round, thank you to those that came along.
We have another planned next Wednesday 8 April, 10-11am with coffee afterwards at Highdown Gardens, if you would like to join us we have a WhatsApp Sketching group set up, text me on 07779 499294 and I will add you to the list. For what to bring, check out the previous blog post
