We have been asked if we would like to take part in the above exhibition for our 2nd year running. Last year many of you entered your postcards and helped raised money for charity at Westbourne House. Do enter its easy and very low cost and show us the result before you send it off I will post it on the website
Here are the details below
Please could I ask you for a few minutes of your time to consider whether you and your students might be able to support our Westbourne House School Secret Art Exhibition? The Exhibition’s theme is COLOUR and will showcase postcard-sized artworks donated anonymously by pupils, staff, artists and celebrities from Saturday 23rd March until Friday 29th March 2019. All works of art will be available to buy for £5 – with the added excitement of later finding out the name of the artist! Funds raised will go to the four charities our Westbourne House School pupils have voted to support for the next two years. These charities are: Chichester Down Syndrome Support Group – providing support to local children with Down Syndrome, as well as their families, in the Chichester and Arun districts of West Sussex. The group offers a large range of activities as well as providing funding for private speech and language therapy. Team Unlimited: prints 3D hands for children who were born without them. They share their designs nationally and internationally and work on developing and improving the devices that are on offer. Sausage Tree Charity: this charity raises funds to advance the education and well-being of children in the Luangwa Valley, Zambia. Westbourne House Bursary Fund: for local children who have strong potential in academics, music or sport, but who otherwise would not have access to a Westbourne education. If you could donate a postcard-sized piece of artwork (collage, photography, painting, drawing, cartoon, printing, embroidery - anything goes) by you or someone you know it would make an enormous difference to these charities. Our inaugural exhibition in 2017 was a huge success raising over £2,000 (Please replace with correct figure) as well as celebrating how art can bring people together from all ages, in all walks of life, to help those who need support in our community and further afield. Entries need to be submitted on a standard A6 postcard (148 x 105 mm or 5.8 x 4.1 inches) by 14 March 2019. The secret element of this exhibition is key, so please remember to put your name and any contact details you are happy to share on the back of your masterpiece. I know it’s a busy time of year but I really hope you can help us spread some colour across Sussex! Postcards can be sent to Kate Stewart, Secret Art Exhibition, at the address below or delivered to the school office.
