Want to draw and paint outdoors? We started back in the spring and continue in July, 3 dates for your diary are in this post. If you are new to outdoor sketching do check out our previous blog posts here
Dates posted below are subject to weather! That could mean either way! If it is above 30C or raining a lot then we won't be going. Being outside is very different to sitting indoors for any length of time. Places have been chosen for shade as well (except for East Preston Beach), they have also been chosen for cafes near by :)
Beginners and intermediates welcome - you will be given a short demo by me once we find our spot
Art Materials and what to bring are listed below - keep it to a minimum especially if you are carrying a little way, bear in mind you will be working on your lap not at a table
Wednesday, 15 July 1.30-3.30, Beach House Park, with coffee afterwards at the cafe

Drawing shapes and incorporating structures of trees
Cost £18 payable on the day by cash or card

Monday 20 July 11-12.30 East Preston Beach
Meet at 11am at the Salt Cafe (which is on the beach), coffees at Salt after the session, we will walk along the beach for 5/10mins
Painting seakale and wild flowers on the beach using watercolours
Cost £12 payable on the day by cash or card
Parking: please don't drive down to the beach as there is no parking there. Free street parking is available further up from the beach
Wednesday 29 July 2-4pm Highdown Gardens, with coffee afterwards
Meet at 2pm in the car park at Highdown Gardens, parking is free to the gardens and car park
Drawing and painting trees at Highdown using pencils and or paints (optional for painting)
Cost £18 payable on the day by cash or card

What to Bring
Small bag, keep everything portable
Drawing: Soft B pencils, rubber, sharpener
Drawing Paper - small A4 paper, can be printer paper or drawing paper, nothing too fancy, 3 or more sheets or a sketchbook
Painting: a few watercolour colours, green, blue, yellow, pink, small mixing palette, medium brush, small water container (total beginners - try drawing only)
Small board of same size to place paper on with a couple of clips to keep the paper secure
Make a viewfinder: To make a simple viewfinder, fold the paper or card in half, then draw a rectangle from the folded edge, but leave a border around it that's about 5cm wide. Use a pencil to draw out a square or rectangle shape on the paper or card. Next, carefully cut out the shape with scissors and the viewfinder is ready.
small light cushion/portable small stool or chair (must be lightweight), benches also available but cushion can be very essential!
hat, sunscreen or whatever you need for the session right Clothing - very important!
