If you have been coming to our Sketchbook Thursday mornings you will love this class. Even if you haven't attended yet you might want to give this a try. Collage is a super creative way in to drawing and painting and it looks great in your sketchbook. Check out a few of the images below for a few inspiring ideas.
Collage is all about collecting papers and then cutting and sticking to create a new image. Papers can be either hand made from the Gelli plate printing class or pieces of watercolour paintings that you think would work. You could also choose to incorporate newspaper pieces with writing, textured bought papers or wrapping paper, tissue paper or any other papers that inspire you to create.
TIP: The papers need to be not too heavy as the collage is glued to a heavier paper, it makes it more difficult for the papers to stick if you have heavy watercolour or acrylic paper.

The May Sketchbook class is on Thursday 29 May, 9.30-12, for full details of what to bring sign up to the weekly Thursday Newsletter and let me know you can make it.
Collage, originating from the French 'coller' to stick is described as:- an artistic composition made of various materials (such as paper, cloth, or wood) glued on a surface. cut pictures from magazines to make a collage. b. : a creative work that resembles such a composition in incorporating various materials or elements
