Join us for a gelli printing Xmas special! Gather ideas for Christmas cards in your sketchbook or start printing them as cards in class. If you have bought a gelli plate and want to use it this is the time to get going and if you want to have a test drive of one I have a couple of Gelli plates you can use.

If you want to find out what a gelli plate is check out YouTube or Google - its a silicon plate that you roll acrylic paint onto before adding an imprint of some sort (printmaking).

Way to think about designing a Xmas card
Paper or cards - you can buy shop bought cards both square and rectangular with envelopes
Correspond the shape of your Gelli plate with the cards it makes it easier
Paint - acrylic paints, also think of gold and silvers
Inspiration, what will you be printing and painting? Check out some of the ideas on https://pixabay.com/illustrations/search/winter/
Think about how you can create backgrounds with the gelli plate for acrylic paintings to go on top
Check out YouTube videos for Gelli plate techniques to produce texture
Tip: get your card printed by the local printers, take the finished painting in and they will help you
Full details of what to bring will be in the Thursday weekly newsletter on 20 November

This is our penultimate sketchbook Thursday of the year, I can't wait to see all of the sketchbooks its been a lovely project and, as we near the end of the year and all of our sketchbook entries grow, what do you think of them and what would you plan for 2026? Let me know by email below!
best wishes Jane
