Harmonious Colour

We take a look in class at the colour wheel. Learning about colour is an 'ongoing' process. I am constantly learning about new colour 'mixes' and love passing this on to the class. When planning a painting I do a small sheet of colours which are divided up into 'darks' mid tones and lights'.

To create 'harmonious' colours we are taking colours that are next to each other, so if you look at the Quiller colour wheel you will see that yellow is next to green which is next to blue. These are called harmonious colours and you see them most often in nature. Think about a sunset; red, orange, yellow is a good example.
